Read the site, not the brochure

Heavy industrial workshops, warehouses, mechanics

Dust, vibration, forklifts, oily hands and blokes who want a cold drink and a solid feed — not a delicate glass-front display.

• Favour robust, enclosed machines with tough keypads.
• Cold drinks outsell everything. Weight the planogram accordingly.
• Position away from the traffic lane where a pallet will eventually clip it.

Corporate offices

Presentation matters. This is the site where a clean glass-front machine with a good product mix earns its keep, and where healthy options and premium lines actually move.

• Chilled snacks and healthier lines sell where they would die in a workshop.
• Noise matters — do not put a rattling compressor next to a meeting room.

Gyms and fitness

Drinks dominate. Protein, isotonic, cold water. Confectionery underperforms. A dedicated drinks machine often beats a combo.

Schools and hospitals

Compliance and product restrictions drive the planogram before you even think about the machine. Check the site rules before you commit stock.

Combo or dedicated?

A combo drink-and-snack machine is the safe first machine on an unproven site of modest staff numbers: one footprint, one install, one power point. Once a site proves itself, splitting into a dedicated drinks machine plus a dedicated snack machine almost always lifts total takings, because you stop letting one product category starve the other of selections.

Access dictates the machine as much as the site does

Before you commit, know:

• Stairs, lift dimensions, dock access, after-hours entry.
• Where the power point is and whether it is on a shared circuit.
• Whether you can get a pallet jack to the final position.
